  4. Will you be going to Manila on a yearly basis? I want my 6 y.o. kid to see it in two years.

  5. Dear Ms. Portillo,

Is it possible to extend the viewing days for the Andalucia? Even if only for one day (Sunday)? Thank you and more power to the NCCA.

  8. We went there before 2:30 today and they did not allow us to get past the gate. They said the cutoff was at 12 noon and asked us to come back early tomorrow. According to the schedules you posted here, it's open until 4pm. We walked from Quirino Grandstand which was very tiring only to be told that we can't get in, not even see the ship from afar, very disappointing.

  9. i agree with you KATHY, many were frustrated because the gate was closed before the scheduled time...
thousands were barred from viewing the historic ship

  10. it is sad to say that the management is not competent in dealing with exhibits such as this.
being unable to accommodate the people who responded to your invitations to view the historic ship, resulting into frustrations of the people!
how will you invite the people to future exhibits if it would only be a frustrating experience?

  11. why is it that they weren't allowing people to get in to see the galleon when it's not even 4pm yet? we arrived at 3.15pm, only to be turned away. they said we needed to register, but i thought this was only for groups of 30 or more?

  12. We were so lucky to get in at around 3:30pm yesterday..even if the guard said that the registration is already closed. It took us a lot of asking(begging) in a nice way...the response was truly overwelhing, a lot of people wanted to see the galleon...thanks for those who helped us, unfortunately we were n0t able to hop on-board because of the bad weather, but lucky enough to see the replica. Our long wait and patience is all worth it...

  13. Too frustrating, annoying, and irritating! The organizers were not ready to handle the big turn out of people wanting to see the galleon. We fell in line very early in the morning and we didn't get to see the galleon! I've also talked to some people who have been at the gate even before the break of dawn who suffered the same fate!

  14. Yet, what's frustrating is that those who waited just outside the gates with the intention of cutting the line managed to sneak inside the compound. Typical Filipino attitude na kung makakaisa, iisa! Kung makakasingit, sisingit! There was no organized queuing system! Nakakakulo talaga ng dugo!

  15. Things could have gone well if only the organizers set the maximum number of viewers that can be accommodated by the ship. For instance, kung 1,000 people per day lang ang kayang i-accommodate, eh di i-open ang 1000 slots na yun. Reservation should have been a must or, at the very least, numbers should have been given away. Much hyped yung event, super promote pa sa media, and yet, hindi naman pala kayang i-handle!

  16. i went on the last day of viewing, and i bet i wasn't the only one who can attest to the ineptitude and stupidity of the organizers. for one, i had to stand in line for 8 hours -- yes, 8 freaking hours! -- just to see galeon andalucia. during that time, i've been subjected to stampedes and rowdy crowds, thanks in large part to a non-existent crowd control system. second, all of us regular visitors had to be under the scorching noontime sun followed by heavy rains, and once it was over, dun pa lang nilabas ng staff ng port area ang silong. third, there is virtually zero system to keep everything in check. and then when it came to view the ship -- 8 freaking hours later without food or water and all sweaty -- we were gladly informed na di na pwedeng umakyat ng ship, and that we had to be content taking pictures na lang for 5 minutes sa concrete ground sa pier 13. super effin stupid ang event na ito. i wasted a whole day, from 7 am to 5 pm, for nothing. seriously, whoever is in charge of this event should be jailed, and NCCA should never be entrusted with event-organizing because obviously it lacks decent brainpower to execute such a simple task. heck, even the queues at Pulp Summer Slam are way better than the hell i've been subjected to just to view this galeon.

  17. I waited for 7 1/2 hours to see the galleon, only to give up by 4 p.m. The number I had with me was #819, and by then, only the people who held #100-200 numbers were being herded to the galleon.

It is an understatement to say that I am very disappointed with the absolute absence of organization. How can the organizers claim to promote culture, arts, and history when their lack of organization is the primary factor that left people disappointed and frustrated over the entire experience?

There was no queuing system, and hardly any member of the organizing team went out to where the public was to explain the system or announce that the galleon would be closed for lunch or to just even marshal a crowd that was otherwise getting unruly. Sure, we didn't have to pay a single cent, but that doesn't give the organizers a free pass to act like we're just some herd of cattle that they could allow to wait under the blistering heat of the sun or get drenched by the heavy rains, simply because they did not make any provisions for a large turnout. It's not like they were scrambling to get any sense of organization either---they had hours to react to the situation, but did absolutely nothing.

I am used to waiting in line for hours and hours, but this by far, is the worst experience I've ever had.
